I bought this monitor because it was relatively well rated and because I estimated it would pay for itself in about two years because it uses so much less electricity than a decade-old 20" Trinitron display.
Everything is fine except for two issues.
First, it has a hot pixel. It is located just under my Mac menu bar, under the day of the week, and is always green. After weighing the pros and cons, and not even asking for a return from MacConnection (nor looking up their bad-pixel policy), I decided to live with it. It is almost completely out of the way, and usually not visible.
Second, the screen being as large as it is, and not wanting to set it super far away (I need to be able to read things), causes a problem. The total viewing angle is very large. The usual change in the color/brightness of such screens is not just an issue for a person sitting next to you or for viewing from off to the side, but even for an individual sitting smack in front of the screen. The middle is straight on (90 degrees), but the edges are in the 60-45 degree range. The edges are darker and the center brighter, giving a vignette appearance to the screen.
I don't use the speakers, so I can't comment on the sound.
It tilts, but does not adjust up/down. Level is OK though, for me.
The menus are operated by buttons that don't depress but are touch sensitive. Kinda annoying, but maybe they last better. The menus and adjustments seemed typical to me.
There is an annoying blue power indicator light below the screen, but you can turn it off in the menus.
For a (small) fraction of the price of an Apple screen, though, I'm going to live with the warts. In your case, I advise you try test driving one carefully before buying.

Excellent basic wide-screen monitor. Picture quality fine. Speakers tinny. Connection jacks on the back of the unit all point downward so it's difficult to identify by look what you're plugging where. You have to actually read the labels which are relief black-on-black, or turn the unit so you can see upside down into the jacks. Not so easy. But fine for the price. On-screen controls not very intuitive.
