I bought the Nomad at the same time as my first portable hard drive, which is to say only recently. Until that time I had always been worried about owning a portable drive and having it fall, get knocked over and break. I figured the Nomad would help protect it.
About two weeks after I bought the drive I was made very glad I did. I was spending time at some friends' house when their kid threw a ball against a ball and it bounced off hitting and knocking my drive off the laptop stand I was using. When it fell the drive didn't come loose from it's cable with cause it to smash in the the metal pole that held up the stand.
Of course I had a mild freak out, my biggest fear about owning a portable drive had just come true.I quickly scooped up the drive and began checking the files and running diags on the drive itself. In the end the thing was fine, the Nomad had done it's job and didn't even have a scratch to show for it.
Honestly I'm not sure I could ever own a portable drive without having it inside of a Nomad.

I have two of these Nomad cases and I am completely happy with them.I have no issue with not being able to store the cable inside, although some reviewers do. I loom my cables neatly along with the spare Cat 5 cable, and the USB cable in their own cubby in the laptop case. The case looks good, you can attach the cable without even opening the lid, the latch looks to go the distance. Yup, happy with it!

This is a great product and protects WD's portable hard drives perfectly. The only issue with the Nomad is there is no place to keep your USB cable. It would be 100% better if there was a way to attach a USB cable within or even outside of the case. Don't let that minor flaw stop you from purchasing this, but the Nomad doesn't help you stay organized.
