This version of the RDX 8000 Removable Disk-Based Library includes DataStor Deduplication Software, one server license, ten desktop licenses and eight 1TB RDX Cartridges. Expected compression/duplication ratios are 2:1 for first full backup and 20:1 for subsequent backups using Quantum DATASTOR Shield.
The Quantum RDX 8000 is a disk based data protection solution for the SMB customer. The RDX 8000 brings the best features of disk—fast access, fast restores and combines them with the best features of tape libraries removability for disaster recovery and an automated backup process. The RDX 8000 features iSCSI connectivity, JBOD (just a bunch of disks) or tape emulation mode and is compatible with current and future RDX cartridge capacities (current capacities run from 1.2TB to 8TB using RDX Cartridges).
The Quantum RDX 8000 with DATASTOR Shield, is the first removable disk library available with deduplication software, creating a truly powerful and affordable SMB data protection solution. DATASTOR Shield reduces backup time, related network traffic and data stored by up to 90 percent by deduplicating data on the client before sending it over the network. Customers use at least two-third fewer cartridges in their cartridge rotation scheme and maintaining a greater version history than tape. Quantum DATASTOR Shield installed on a Microsoft Windows Server, utilizes a simple Windows Explorer-like interface and performs agentless backup, meaning there is no software to install on the clients being backed up.
