my purchase was intended for the XE700T1A Wi-Fi Win7 edition. apparently, I received the consumer build edition. it's pumped up with all the kinds of sensors as well as an unlocked 3G (or 4G) chipset AND a genuine Windows 8 installed!
As an MSITP, and an LUC MSIT student, I needed a developer's device to tweak and goof around in it as much as I like. the series 7 slate Consumer Build// edition is the right stuff for me.
runs Win7 and Win8 like a champ! and if you're good with setting up Ubuntu (x64 secure edition) to the right drivers, this is, to my knowledge, the ONLY Slate in the market to run Ubuntu smoothly!

I bought this tablet two weeks ago, and ever since it only grew in my eyes, as superb product. For the record, I spent a week with Windows 7 installation on it, and then I installed Windows 8 Release Preview, and I'm not going back to 7 any more.
Windows 8 runs smoothly and is extremely stable plus takes around 10GB less than default Win 7 installation, which is quite a lot with only 64GB SSD. Screen is superb and very bright. Touch screen allows for 8 simultaneous touch points, but rocks with attached Pen. Sound is very good quality, as well as
Its only deficiency so far is separate keyboard, which can't be docked to the tablet, and makes it quite useless, as tablet's main purpose is to be mobile, something that involves more lap time, than desk time. I hope Samsung will release a keyboard like that in the near future.

As it says in the summary, the battery just isn't up to the job. With Wifi on, the screen at 40% with moderate use, you will lucky to get three hours. Even Windows power level indicator doesn't keep up with the battery drop off. Such a shame because at this high price I expected better from Samsung. Plus I'm really looking forward to a replacement battery bill.

Having owned the unit for more than 2 months and after reading reviews about the 'screen issues', I have noticed that it does buldge a little. It's not really an issue to worry about as the unit I bought came with 5 years of Samsung warranty. Peace of mind.
The display is great, and responsiveness excellent especially with Windows 8. An actual device which retains the productivity and development environment similar to a desktop or laptop.
