The ATEN USB-Parallel adapter uses a USB type B receptacle for connection to the USB port and IEEE parallel connection to the printer. The USB Parallel Adapter draws power from the USB port, so no external power supply is required. The adapter is fully bidirectional to ensure compatability with today's latest printers. It provides (1) upstream USB port, B-type connector for standard USB cable connection, and (1) downstream 36-pin Centronics parallel connector. It is fully compliant with USB Spec. Ver. 1.1 and supports standard PC parallel port register based operation. You can support multiple printers with multiple parallel adapters. The USB-parallel adapter has a maximum thoughput: 1.2 Mbits/Sec (ECP Mode). It ships with Mac OS driver support.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Greis IOGear USB->Serial Printer The IOGear GUC1284 is completely compatible with 2 HP LaserJet 4M and 4MP printers as well as via a Belkin USB port expander. This printer interface has functioned properly for over a year. No CD is required for installation, only select the USB port. The only point with using the USB port expansion is to remember which port you set the printer up on - you have to use that port. Note that this is a serial interface that converts to parallel, so it is not as fast as a direct serial printer interface. September 7, 2009
