APC Back-UPS HS 500 is a compete management and power protection solution for structured wiring and home networking applications. It provides the flexibility to remotely manage the UPS and control the outlets via a Web browser. This UPS is intended for use with 120V power and is rated at 500VA and 300W. It connects to wall power via a single NEMA 5-15 plug with an eight foot long cord. The UPS provides battery backup through four standard NEMA 5-15 outlets. Your electronics are also protected with 800 Joules surge suppression. The maintenance-free sealed Lead-Acid battery with suspended electrolyte provides 4.4 minutes of backup time at full load (16.3 minutes at half load). An LED status display and audible alarms keep you informed. It offers a host of datalines, including protection for RJ-11, RJ-45 and coaxial. It ships with a Cat6 Ethernet cable, CD with software, cord management straps, documentation CD, installation guide and a user manual.

I can access all of the network devices and even make changes to the UPS remotely. It makes my life easier and saves me a trip to the data closets 20 miles away. Love it! May 17, 2010

Rated 5 out of 5Â by AAA Solved the Problem Using APC HS500 to backup the Verizon FIOS system consisting of internet, TV and phone. We live in an area that has frequent brown-outs and occasional black-outs of 1 hour or less. This UPS provides the needed power to bridge the outages and keep the communications system operating. The included control software works well and allows you to remotely monitor and adjust the UPS settings via the home network. April 10, 2010

Please note, this device is NOT for PC backup. I use this to power my cable modem, wireless router, CAT5e 8 port hub, two external hard drives, and an Airport Extreme.
