This USB 2.0 Printer Auto Sharing Switch is truly, a diamond in the rough. After searching the internet for other devices that could also be plugged into this switch and couldn't find any, I decided anyway to go ahead and purchase it. After it's arrival and connection to two separate computers, I connected a USB hard drive to the source input and found it worked perfectly in every detail. It's basically a software switch that allows one device to be shared to two separate computers - one at a time. For the past few years, I have been sharing files between two separate computers next to each other by using a USB Flash Drive. Connecting to one computer, copying a file onto it and then unplugging it and plugging it to the other computer and transferring that copied file into it. NOW - this IOGEAR 2-port switch, eliminates that troublesome procedure. AND NOW - I've found that you can even use a USB FLASH DRIVE for the device to be shared. I know that a lot of people would most likely just network two computers. But when you have one connected to the internet and the other is a stand-alone computer, those network connections can start getting into each others way. But with this switch, you don't have that problem. And to select the computer you want that common source to use, the enclosed software is easily loaded and ready in seconds. Afterwards, it's just a matter of opening the selector software and selecting "switch" and watch the device light go from one computer to the other. EASY TO USE - FLEXIBLE - AND INEXPENSIVE.
