Moving to the Cloud?

The Platform You Might Not Have Considered

by Patrick Renzi | 05.26.16

If you looked out of the window today, you’d probably see a large assortment of clouds. Clouds of all different types, shapes, and sizes. There are cirrus clouds, cumulus clouds, public clouds, and hybrid clouds; but do you see your cloud? Is it light, fast moving, and flexible? Is it dark, erratic, and unpredictable? Chances are you don’t know yet, and there is nothing wrong with this sentiment. You manage IT in a very real business, with very real concerns. But with the proper plan in place, you can ensure that utilizing the hyper scalability, flexibility, and efficiency of Microsoft’s Cloud Platform will be as smooth a transition as it can be.

Time to Grow Your Desktop as a Service?

See If It Makes Sense for Your Organization

by Karl Forty | 05.24.16

One of the benefits of a VDI/DaaS for organizations is that data is never saved locally to devices. For mobile devices/laptops that can suddenly turn up missing, information can’t be compromised, because it is only displayed as pixels on a screen. The very nature of remote data/local presentation inherent to VDI/DaaS is especially valuable if there is a failure to a desktop or other device. Because end users can access their virtual desktop from another device, they can be more productive—especially in the architectural and construction field—where mobility can be of significant value.

Colocation: Make the Future of IT a Reality

The Benefits of Going Colo

by Ramsey Tawil | 05.05.16

The movement to colocation—or colo—is accelerating and will have profound implications for enterprises and service providers. Colocation involves renting space in a third-party data center and can also include a mix of hardware, software, and services. The tactic is surging at a 16% compound annual growth rate through 2020, from $25.70 billion in 2015 to $54.13. By 2018, 65% of companies’ IT assets will be off-site in colocation, hosting, and cloud data centers, according to IDC, while 33% of IT “staff” will be employees of third-party service providers.
