Rated 5 out of 5Â by tmx1 smt1500rm2u review Unit runs silently. I'd say the 80mm fan runs around 300-400rpm up until the load reaches about 70%, then the fan increases RPM, but still quieter than any APC UPS i have used in the past. Externally the UPS feels cold to the touch, which means internally it runs very cool. (always a good thing for the batteries). This has improved from the older SUA models, which always ran warmer. Also, when in battery mode the transformer buzzing noise is far less than previous models. Bottom line is, anyone needing a UPS to run quietly in a test environment should get this. (no I don't work for APC) March 25, 2011
