The LongView Keyboard/Video/Mouse (KVM) extenders allow you to extend the distance between your server and your VGA monitor, PS/2 keyboard, PS/2 mouse, stereo speakers, microphone and serial port device. All of these signals can be extended up to 500 feet (152 meters) using a single inexpensive and commonly available CAT 5 Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) cable -- the type used in most Local Area Networks.
A LongView extender consists of a transmitter placed near the server and a receiver placed near the remote user’s monitor. Both the transmitter and receiver are powered using wall-mount power supplies. Audio capabilities are standard on the LongView KVM extender, while Avocent AutoTuning technology provides automatic compensation for different cable lengths, video resolutions and serial COM port data rates. SVGA resolutions up to 1600 x 1200 are supported.
